The Summer Reading Program is underway at the Charleston County Public Library. Throughout the summer, we have featured programs and events for the entire family to enjoy! We invite kids, teens and adults to visit various branches to participate in these upcoming FREE events. We encourage you and you family to sign-up for the Summer Reading Program to log your reading hours to begin winning prizes.

Taiko Drumming
Taiko drumming is a dynamic musical art form with Japanese roots. This diverse group of performers will put on an amazing, intense, and exciting show. Join us for this unique musical experience with Taiko Charleston.

Improv Night with Theatre 99
Do you love a good laugh? Stop by and enjoy an hour of improv comedy from Theatre 99. Performers will create original, improvised plays based entirely on audience suggestions. Theatre 99 shows may not be appropriate for ages 14 and younger.

Search for Treasure with Angela May
Join New York Times Bestselling Author Angela May for the release of her second book in The Islanders series, Search for Treasure, co-written with Mary Alice Monroe. Nathalia: Bilingual Music for Families!
Children’s songwriter Nathalia engages families in an interactive musical performance. From themes like space exploration to cruising down the Amazon river, her energetic songs will have families singing, dancing, even learning a little Spanish, in this fun multicultural experience! Jungle Jim presents “Splash Into Reading!”
The all-new Splash Into Reading program has everything you’ve come to expect from a Jungle Jim Summer Reading Program show…interactive engagement, all-ages humor, and a performance that will delight and amaze your audience. This 45-minute program features giant ocean creature creation, routines that promote books and reading, over a dozen volunteers performing on stage with Jungle Jim, and of course, amazing magic!

Deninufay Dance Co.
Kids, parents, and caregivers will experience a journey of culture through performing arts including dance, drumming, songs, monologues, and musical theatre with an ecstatic afro flair. The audience will learn terms of the Key Swahili lauguage that can be used daily for communication. Drumming and sound are key aspects of the program and we love getting members of our audiences to join us on stage to shine bright and help us play groovy tunes that will bring melodic music to your ears and rhythm to your feet!

Noodle McDoodle – Children’s Music
