History
The Mt. Pleasant Library is one of four regional libraries that opened between January and June of 1992. Mt. Pleasant Regional opened Jan. 16, 1992. The regional libraries have identical physical plans and are all 14,000 square feet in size. Each has an auditorium for use by the public. The Mt. Pleasant library closed in May 2021 to undergo renovations as part of the $108.5 million referendum-funded project passed by Charleston County voters in 2014. The branch reopened to the public on Aug. 6, 2022 and included updates such as new interior finishes, shelving and furniture, technology upgrades, designated children and teen areas, and more.
