CCPL Launches Youth Library Cards with Expanded Options

Article Date
September 8, 2025

CCPL is introducing new Youth Library Card options designed to give parents and caregivers more flexibility in guiding their child’s library experience. With these new options, families can choose from a variety of card types that allow different levels of access to print, digital, and online resources. This new approach empowers parents to decide what works best for their child while ensuring every young reader has a path to learning and discovery at CCPL.

Youth Card Options include:

  • All Access Youth Card – Complete access to print and digital collections, databases, and internet.
  • Limited Access Cards – Age-based options (Child, Middle School, Teen) that provide access to specific print collections plus online resources.
  • Restricted Access Cards – Age-based options that provide access to specific print collections only.

Parents or guardians select the access level when signing up their child for a card, and they can change it at any time as their child’s needs evolve. For information about the new Youth Card, including details on each card option, visit ccpl.org/youthcard or speak with staff at any CCPL branch.

Registration of the Limited or Restricted Youth cards will trigger the removal of the youth from participating in the CCPL/Charleston County School District L2 program. L2 provides all CCSD students automatic registration to a library account. For more information on L2, visit ccpl.org/l2
