CHARLESTON, S.C. - March is Women's History Month, a celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society. It's been observed annually in March since 1987 in the United States. It began as a weeklong celebration in 1980 and seven years later it expanded to a month-long celebration. The National Women’s History Month’s theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.”

Join the Charleston County Public Library in celebration of Women’s History Month with programs, displays, book recommendations and more! We invite you to check out our resources and visit our branches to learn more about the contributions of women in history.
