CHARLESTON, S.C. - The McClellanville, Village, and Mt. Pleasant Regional branches of Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) are closed Oct. 4. The branches will reopen Friday morning at their regular times.
The three branches East of the Cooper were closed out of an abunadance of caution. CCPL decided to keep the branches closed based on their hours of operation and staffing for the remainder of the day on Thursday.
Charleston Police officials were investigating a threat sent to the general CCPL information email address. As a result, there will be increased police presence at branches throughout the day. Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday evening took over the investigation , and said there is no credible threat to the library system or its branches
