CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston County Public Library card holders can now find streaming movies, TV shows, and video-based learning resources available at CCPL through the Libby app.
Earlier this year, ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines on RBdigital moved to the Libby app and the OverDrive platform. Now the video services patrons have enjoyed for years through RBdigital are also available in the Libby app.
The initial list of video suppliers include creators that specialize in educational courses, feature films and streaming concerts, online yoga and music lessons, and much more. More content providers will be added in the coming months.
ArtistWorks
World-class instruction for the most popular string and band instruments through self-paced video lessons from professional musicians.
IndieFlix
A streaming movie service of pop culture favorites, box office hits, award-winning feature films, documentaries, and shorts.
Qello Concerts
The world’s largest collection of full-length concerts and music documentaries.
The Great Courses
Engaging and understandable lectures by esteemed professors, professionals, and experts in topics ranging from history, better living, science, language learning, and more.
To find the new streaming video services in the Libby app, scroll down on the main page when the app loads (or click on the library card logo in the bottom menu), and find the Extras link.
Currently, the AcornTV service that had been available on RBdigital is not available in the Libby app. CCPL is working to add that service. However, many of the shows and movies available through AcornTV are also available in our Hoopla app and website.
For those who have been using the Libby app, there will be no change to how the app functions but you will see a much more extensive list of titles available through CCPL’s digital collection. With a valid library card, members of the community can borrow from the library’s digital collection by downloading Libby or visiting the CCPL OverDrive site.
Readers may browse CCPL’s digital collection, instantly borrow titles and start reading or listening for free with a valid library card. This service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets and Chromebooks. Through Libby, readers can also “send to Kindle.” All titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees. Readers can also download titles onto Libby for offline use.
