Join Dean Calbreath, author of The Sergeant, for a slide-show and lecture on the life of Nicholas Said, from his birth in an ancient African kingdom to his travels through the palaces of the Ottoman Empire and Europe, to his life in the United States as a sergeant in the Civil War and a lecturer and schoolteacher in Reconstruction Era South Carolina and other Southern states.
