February is Heart Health Month and your local Charleston County Public Library is here to keep your heart rate in check! As part of our mission to enrich lives, we see the importance of enriching our communities with health education and healthy food options. This month we're highlighting four heart-healthy programs available to all CCPL patrons at no cost.
Did you know you can visit select CCPL branches to talk with a Community Health Worker, check out a blood pressure kit, and take home some healthy and fresh produce? Learn more about our programs below!
Here are four heart-healthy resources available to you at select local CCPL branch locations:

CCPL card holders can check out blood pressure kits at select library branches. The kits contain a blood pressure cuff, instructions, tracking information, and literature about managing blood pressure.

At select branch locations, patrons can meet with a CCPL Community Health Worker to receive blood pressure monitor education along with other resources. The telehealth program targets women in rural areas as well as diabetes prevention classes for patrons. Go to /telehealth for more details.

Kids and teens can enjoy free afterschool snacks and meals at select library branch locations through the Kids Café Program! Snacks include nutritious options such as fruit, cheese, yogurt, and muffins. Visit /kidscafe for more details!

Free and Fridge is a community-led initiative where anyone can "take what you need, or leave what you can." Through Free and Fresh, CCPL offers fresh and nutritious foods at select library branch locations to anyone that needs it. No library card is necessary! Go to /freeandfresh for more details!
