CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Charleston County Public Library is excited to offer its patrons a fast and convenient way to borrow materials!

CCPL installed new, upgraded self-checkout kiosks at Hurd/St. Andrews and Mount Pleasant regional libraries this week that make checking out and renewing books, and paying fines even easier. More machines will be installed at other branches between May and July, except for the St. Paul's Hollywood branch because a new library is being built, and the kiosks will be installed when the new branch opens. Any transaction done at one of these kiosks requires the PIN associated with your CCPL account. So, now's the time to know your PIN!

Don't know your PIN? Just check with a CCPL staff member and they can look it up for you!

It's as simple as scanning a library card, entering the PIN, and putting a stack of books or movies on the RFID scanner pad. The new self-check kiosk will chime when the materials have been checked out. Patrons will have the option to have a receipt printed, emailed to them, or both.

However, items such as telescopes, mobile WiFi hotspots, digital magnifiers, storytime kits, New Americans and Refugees kits, Kill a Watt electricity usage meters, book club kits, Children’s Museum passes and children’s pop-up tents cannot be checked out at the new self-check stations.
