CCPL Celebrates National Reading Month Throughout March

Join us at CCPL as we celebrate what we do best...reading! March is National Reading Month and we have tons of family-friendly programs to help you celebrate! From our beloved Storytimes to scavenger hunts. See some of our highlighted events below! 

Spanish Bilingual Family Storytime

  • John's Island Library 
  • Thursday, March 2 at 10 AM 

Join us for a bilingual Family Storytime as we celebrate Read Across America. We’ll have stories, songs, and rhymes in both Spanish and English, as well as a special guest! No Spanish ability necessary. All ages (with an adult) are welcome to come learn and play with us!  

Espanol: Reunensen para una hora de cuentos bilingüe para familias, para celebrar “Read Across America.” ¡Tendremos cuentos, canciones y rimas en español y en inglés, además de un invitado especial! No es necesario saber español. ¡Todas las edades (con un adulto) son bienvenidas a venir a aprender y jugar con nosotros! 

Yoga for Kids!

  • Saturday, March 4 at 10  AM
Join us for a fun class of poses, breathwork, and mindful activities. Limited supply of mats please bring your own. Geared towards children ages 6-11. 

Paint a Kindness Rock to Celebrate Read Across America Week  

  • Hurd/St. Andrews Library - under the breezeway
  • Saturday, March 4 10:30 AM 

Celebrate Read Across America Week (March 2-6) by decorating a kindness rock with an uplifting message or image.  Give the rock to someone you care about or keep it as a source of inspiration!  We will meet under the breezeway outside the front entrance. 

Read-In for National Reading Month (All ages)   

  • Baxter-Patrick James Island Library 
  • Friday, March 24  9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  

Help us celebrate National Reading Month by joining us for a read-in! Bring a blanket and a snack and come read with us. Your favorite librarians will be popping in to share their favorite read-alouds throughout the day. 

Diverse Book BINGO 

  • Otranto Road Library
  • Passive program throughout March 

Read diverse children's books in celebration of Read Across America (3/2) and National Reading Month! To play, pick up a BINGO card from the children's desk and read a variety of award-winning and honor books. Earn a BINGO by completing a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line, or each of the four corner squares. Turn in your card to the children’s desk by March 31, 2023, for a prize and a chance to win a gift card! 

Read Across America Scavenger Hunt 

  • Poe/Sullivan’s Island Library 
  • Passive program throughout March 
Hit the road to Read Across America in this month-long scavenger hunt! Travel along with us as to discover new and interesting places in this interactive "cross-country" journey.
