Best Public Space - With 18 branches and a Mobile Library, CCPL is spread across every corner of Charleston County! Our libraries provide a safe space with access to resources, programs, materials, and more, all for FREE. Whether you need to check out a book or DVD, borrow free passes to local attractions, research area history, or just want a quiet place to study or access the internet, our libraries offer something for everyone. We have four new libraries (with a fifth on the way) and several recently renovated branches with state-of-the art technology and resources for the community.

Best Local Podcast - Charleston Time Machine - Explore Lowcountry history through CCPL’s Charleston Time Machine podcast. Historian, Dr. Nic Butler, dives into the less familiar corners of local history with stories designed to educate, entertain, and inspire audiences to reflect on the enduring presence of the past in South Carolina. The podcast has been around nearly six years with 246 episodes. Nic has written over one million words for the podcast, making it the most words written about Charleston’s History in the world. The Charleston Time Machine was awarded Best Local Podcast by City Paper readers in 2019.

Best Local Cause - The Free and Fresh Community Fridge Program provides produce to the community at no cost at three library branches (one branch is currently under renovation). The fridges are stocked with fresh produce on a regular basis thanks to community partners and donations. No registration or sign-up is required to take what you need or donate what you can.
