Piccolo Spoleto performances to fill Main Library Auditorium for 6 days

CHARLESTON, SC - The summer can't really start until Spoleto and Picoolo Spoleto festivals kick off in Charleston! This year, six great Piccolo Spoleto shows are being performed at the Main Library.

Starting Tuesday, May 29, arts lovers can enjoy six days of hilarious and fun adaptations of classic children's tales. 

The first performance each day is set for 9:15 a.m., but school groups have priority access to that showing. Encore performances are scheduled for 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Call 843-805-6893 for more program details.


The Tale of Peter Rabbit
Tuesday, May 29 at 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Weber State University (Utah) presents a charming adaptation of this classic tale featuring puppets and live music. Discover the adventures of a curious rabbit as he dares to explore Mr. McGregor's garden.


Billy Goats Gruff
Wednesday, May 30 at 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

The College of Charleston Opera performs a fractured adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale about three billy goats who are faced with a challenge when a bully will not let them cross a bridge.


Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" Ballet
Thursday, May 31 at 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Join ballerina and College of Charleston dance professor Michelle Ramos 
for a dance tale of the seasons. Experience the beauty of each time of the year in a friendly story told by words and dance steps accompanied by the music of master composer Antonio Vivaldi.

Bright Star Theatre: American Songbook
Thursday, June 7 at 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Enjoy a musical journey through American history performed by professionals. From tribal songs of the early Native Americans to influential anthems of the Civil Rights movement, this show leaves few songs unsung.
