Every year in February, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) takes place in Charleston. While the exposition is a ticketed event, children can explore wildlife programs inspired by SEWE for FREE at the Charleston County Public Library!

Thursday, February 16 at 3:30 p.m. Marine Mammals in the Lowcountry Join Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network for a program all about our local dolphins! During the program, LMMN will go over what makes a marine mammal a mammal, the kinds we see in the Lowcountry, and the many ways we can protect them! Designed for elementary-aged youth. Saturday, February 18 from 10-11 a.m. James Island Ocean ActKIDvists Join this local environmental conservation group for kids to learn about the importance of protecting our oceans. Discuss litter, single-use plastics, and ways that you can help care for our ocean and beaches. |

February 17th at 3:30-4:30 p.m. Marine Mammals in the Lowcountry: Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network Want to learn more about local marine mammals? Join us as the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network gives a program with fun and interactive ways kids can learn about our local marine life! The program includes a presentation, interactive time with marine materials, and activities! Young Author’s Corner: Dolphin Adventures - Monthlong Inspired by SEWE and the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network visit to our library, the Young Author’s Corner wants you to explore what it would be like to have a dolphin as a pet, swim with a dolphin in the wild, and communicate with a whale to solve a mystery. Writers can submit their work to the children’s desk for a chance to win a vintage feather pen! |
