James Island Library now closed ahead of opening at new, larger location
The Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) has closed the James Island branch at 1248 Camp Road in preparation for the opening of the new Baxter Patrick James Island Library. Staff and materials will be moved to the new branch before the expected November opening.
“We’re excited to bring this beautiful, brand-new and unique facility to James Island less than three miles away from the current branch,” said CCPL Executive Director Angela Craig. “We think the new Baxter-Patrick James Island Library will be an incredible resource for the entire community providing resources in literacy, educational success, workforce development and community engagement.”

History
The James Island Library opened Oct. 27, 1978. It was built with funding from County Council's general revenue sharing funds. It was designed to serve the James Island and Folly Beach areas.
